COMPREHENSIVE CLASSIFICATION OF CARGOES AS A BASIS FOR EFFECTIVE ORGANIZATION OF TRANSPORT OPERATIONS

Abstract

The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of cargo classification and the influence of cargo characteristics on the organization of transport operations. It emphasizes that the accurate identification of the type of cargo, its physico- chemical properties, dimensions, weight, and regulatory status is a key factor in the efficiency of the logistics process. Incorrectly defined cargo parameters lead to violations of transportation technology, increased costs, the emergence of emergency situations, deterioration of product quality, and the occurrence of disputes between the participants of the logistics chain. The paper presents a systematized overview of the main cargo groups by their physical state: solid, liquid, gaseous, and those with variable aggregate conditions. Their transportation features, major risks, and requirements for packaging and technological processes are outlined. Special attention is paid to dangerous goods and their ADR classification, which defines specific safety measures, rules of marking, packaging, vehicle selection, and requirements for personnel competence. The influence of regulatory aspects on the organization of transportation and risk assessment is analyzed. The article separately examines the transportation of oversized and heavy cargoes, which require specialized technical equipment, engineering support, and approvals from state authorities. The significance of properly selected packaging, storage conditions, shelf life, and adherence to temperature regimes is highlighted. The study identifies how cargo characteristics affect the selection of transport modes, routing, securing requirements, axle load, and technical indicators of the transport means. The results confirm that a comprehensive consideration of cargo properties ensures traffic safety, reduction of logistics costs, increased efficiency and reliability of transportation, and compliance with legal regulations. The article forms a scientific and practical basis for optimizing logistics decisions and improving transport technologies.
