PRODUCTION OF LIP BALMS WITH SUN PROTECTION EFFECT

Abstract

Cosmetologists recommend protecting exposed areas of the body from UV all year round. A sunscreen lip balm is crucial for protecting the delicate skin of your lips from the harmful effects of the sun. Just like applying sunscreen to your face and body, it’s equally important to provide your lips with a high level of protection. Lips have thinner skin and contain less melanin, a natural pigment that protects against harmful sunlight, making them more susceptible to sunburn and other sun damage. So, a sunscreen lip balm is a product that will help keep your lips beautiful and healthy. There are currently two main types of sunscreen filters: physical and chemical. Each provides protection through different mechanisms of action and has its advantages and disadvantages. The choice between physical and chemical filters depends on your skin type, individual preferences, and specific conditions of use. Physical sunscreens effectively protect the skin from the sun in the entire spectrum of UV radiation, and it is worth noting that only physical UV filters are allowed to be used in natural and organic cosmetics. Chemical UV filters are the most common and effective means of protecting the skin from the harmful effects of sunlight. A lip balm formulation with sun protection effect was developed using natural safe ingredients. The possibility of adding physical and chemical UV filters to the composition to provide sun protection, as well as color components such as Sunset Pink Mica and Apple Blossom was confirmed. The organoleptic properties of the created product were evaluated. It was found that all samples of balms meet the requirements of regulatory documents for such products. The analysis of the covering ability showed that all samples have a homogeneous texture, without lumps and grains during application. The resulting balms have a beautiful color, pleasant aroma, and are harmless to the lips due to the use of natural ingredients.
